I have seen tranny work range from $1000 to $2200 depending if they rebuild it or replace it and depending on the car and how hard it is to get parts for

Pay attention to what gear this is happening to. If you can accellerate smoothly from 1st thru 3rd- yet it seems to drop all gears as it attempts to shift into OD, you've got a problem with you're end clutch. Once the OD gear is attempted and missed, you'd basically have to slow down to a stop or manually shift into a lower gear for the transmission to catch (sometimes it won't catch at all until you are stopped). If this is the case, the end clutch pack can be replaced ON THE CAR and is relatively quite easy to do if your have any mechanical background. Transmission shops may try to sell you a whole transmission or a whole rebuild but this isn't necc if the above symptoms are what's happening. Your local dealership should know what to do (hopefully).

well judging by what he said in his first comment where he said he coulcn't go over 30mph then i don't think that thats the case. I don't know to much about it, but just to answer your question it doesn't seem like thats what he has a problem with. I would just take it to a mechanic and see what he says, then get back to us

I read his post obviously- and still see how it can apply. If driven with light throttle, OD can attempt to engage as low as 30mph. All it takes is an attempt to shift into OD for the trans to drop all gears. This is also why i mentioned that dropping it manually into a lower gear may not re-engage the trans.

Why would the car attempt to shift into OD at such a low speed, i thought that doesn't kick in until a curtian speed and % open throttle

Keep in mind , we are talking about a 95 here. If you leave the OD button on, it will attempt to shift very early so long as the throttle and load are light enough to warrant it.
