Default How to clean EGR valve - Mitsubishi Outlander GX3 (2016)

Hi Mitsubishi Forum, my car has been struggling for months with what Mitsubishi tell me is carbon build up on the EGR valve. I've tried adding additives to a tank of diesel and driving the motorway at 70mph in 3rd gear to try and provoke the carbon to burn off. This hasn't helped. At 2,000 revs the car runs very rough. Sometimes I can't get past 3,000 revs, unless I dip the clutch and hit the accelerator to 4,500 revs then re-engage the gears. Clearly the EGR value is super coked up / blocked / sticking. My mechanic is having trouble sourcing an aftermarket EGR value and a Mitsubishi EGR value will cost hundreds to source and fit. The cheaper option would be to remove the EGR and clean it. Before I go down that route I'm wondering what I'm letting myself in for. What are the things to look out for? What are the chances that it'll make a real difference? Any tips welcome

Cleaning is always good! Although might be that you need to clean inlet manifold as well.

RESOLVED. The problem was due to a split in the Heat exchange pipe.

Just for clarity which pipe are you referring to? The one running from the exhaust manifold to the intake?
Thanks
