need some help...
Took my fiances '01 Eclipse GS 2.4 to the AdvancedAuto last week and bought new brake pads for it. While we were there I had them throw the computer on it since her "check engine" light has been on for about a year. The puter threw out codes P0135- O2 Sensor Heater Curcuit Malf. and code P0303.
Now, since the light has been on for alittle while....and the battery has been disconnected in that time and reconnected and the code remains....I don't think its just dirt. The code P0303 has its own thread and I've checked it out. Just got new plugs tonight, since it has 90k miles, figures its just time. Plus if I'm pulling them to check if they are fouled, I'm changing them. Also going to inspect the wires and such. Fill the tank, and add some injector cleaner.
The P0135 code befuddles me though....any suggestions or ideas on this.

OK...so I just got done changing the plugs. Put the new ones in and started it up. Everything seemed fine. While I had the hood up I noticed the ground on the battery was pretty junked up, so I disconnected the battery, cleaned the terminal, and reconnected. This cleared the service engine light, but also threw the code thing up on the radio. Anyone know what the code is? I know she said that that had happened befor and she had to re-enter it, but I got no clue where to find it.
Anyway, after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, it starts idling funny. Seemed alittle low at idle, and would then stall. I know I read something about this last night, figured maybe the puter had to re-calibrate itself. Started it up a few more times, let it idle best it could and assisted by giving some gas. Eventually backed it outta the garage and took it around the block, but at every stop sign, it would stall and the service light came back on. We pulled it back in, removed the coil pack on the drivers side, cleaned it off. Re-installed it and now it idles, alittle low I think, but its idling. So, I took it back around the block. Now the thing seems running good agian, theres no more shudder/bucking shifting into second, the service light is still on...and I have NO RADIO!! lol, The book says the code is 5283 in the owners manual, but I tried that twice and came up 2ERR so I'm not about to try it a 3rd time and totally lock it up

The code they gave you doesnt work? ********. I dont know what to tell you about that.
When you dissconnect tbe battery, the computer does need to re calibrate. So you need to avoid full throttle for about 15 mins after dissconnecting it and it should be fine.

yea, I was trying to enter the code from the owners manual, was a generic code. She came home tonight and I told her about it. She had the code writen down on the back of the sticker in the glove box, and entered it and had it operating the first try.
As far as the idle problem, like I said, we removed, cleaned and reinstalled the slave coil, still semmed alittle rough, but after driving it home and it sitting for a few hours til she got home it was fine. She started it up and it idled great.
Thanks for the imput though sebba.

P0135 is an Oxygen sensor code, can't remember off the top of my head exactly what it is. If the check engine light is still on now, instead of disconnecting the battery, look in the fuse box under the hood for the ECM fuse or MPI or ECI don't remember which it is right now, pull the fuse out for about 30 seconds or so and put it back, that should clear your light. The idle issue now that you changed the plugs and cleaned your coil your spark is good, now you should do a quick throttle body clean. At work I advise on having a throttle body service with a tune up or I include it in the tune up depending which engine I am working on. The best results for Trottle body cleaning are.............Take some Air Intake Cleaner and an old toothbrush. Remove the Air Inlet Pipe from your air filter to the throttle body. Spray the cleaner on the toothbrush, open your throttle plate. Scrub the bore and as much of the plate as you can with the toothbrush (try to get off all the black gunk/carbon build up). Then take a rag and with the throttle plate open wipe down the bore etc. Try to avoid spraying **** directly into the throttle body cause depending on the type of chemical it will **** up your IAC valve. Once you are done, re assemble the hoses etc. find the ECM fuse, pull it out for 30 seconds or so and the reinstall it (set your computer to virgin). Then fire it up and take it for a drive.
