oil pump case removal...help!!!..please

have bolt(and easy out) broken off in oil pump case...would like to remove oil pump case to get to broken bolt...do i have to remove oil pan and such to remove oil pump case?....manual isn't clear...1991 v6 montero

drop the sump to remove the oil pump.
