hi i recently purchased a outlander 2010 2.2 diesel running the mivec engine im becoming concerned about the rough idle even to say clatter at idle mostly from o/s having had car into mitsy at least four times to be told noise is normal ???? having my warranty expire soon thinking im getting run around if the revs are picked up to 1000rpm engine sounds great could this be timing chain or anyone any experience with these engines thanks

 

yeah, by your description. Cam belt Idler/tensioner.
Dont know the engine offhand. Older ones, the tensioner is part of oil pump so could indicate failure there.
