Default Overheating

New to the sight so bear with
35 yrs as an auto mechanic but possibly stumped not familiar with 2002 montero sport 3.5
overheating in 5 min or less, coolant full, new thermostat still overheats.
removed stat, still overheats, opened bleeder no flow, all fan belts tight. removed upper hose coolant perculates out hose with engine running no steady flow. have experienced us models with rotten impellers causing simular problem. coolant not rusted, mileage 99,000, if it is water pump how involved, is timing belt involved

Don't rule out a clogged radiator. I have done dozens of Montero Sport timing belts and many waterpumps as well. There isnt much to the timing belt once you get down to it.

THANKS for the reply Mits
Dealer freaking me out with $1200.00 estimate
Says belt is loose and could jump time if engine is continued to run, then it's mega bucks in the several thousands (5-8000)
Is it that big of a pain to do? Any special pullers involved
Thanks again
TC

Its just nuts and bolts. The crank bolt may be a challenge.
