P0302 on 2000 Eclipse
My son has a 2000 Eclipse GS that's throwing a 0302 code (cylinder 2 misfire). It idles a little rough and hesitates under acceleration. Here's what we've done so far.
- Replaced the plugs. When we pulled the old plugs, there was nothing unusual... none were burnt, no oil on any, etc.
- Checked the wires by grounding the plug threads against the valve cover while in the wire. The plugs seemed to spark just fine.
- Checked the compression. All 4 cylinders were in the 165-170 range.
Even though the plugs appeared to spark ok, could it still be wires or the coil pack?
What else can we check to either determine what the problem is or rule out what it's not?
Thanks for the help!

OBD-II Trouble Code: P0302 Cylinder 2 Two Misfire Detected
It would be best to test the ignition coil on the 2nd cylinder next.
