Question..help!
Okay so I'm not exactly the brightest girl in the world here but I need help. Today I was in a bit of a hurry and I took a turn too fast skidded then I had to stop quickly and when I went to go again there was a bit of a clunk like it had locked up and now the check engine light's on.. Does anybody know what might be wrong?
if you had an issue when you tried to accelerate, it mght be the transmission. i did something like that in an acura TL, and i screwed up the tranny. something to do with the fact that i was modulating gas and brake to try to keep the car under control. the mechanic said that the tranny got confused and auto-shifted into the wrong gear and got stuck or something. anyway, i could be wrong so dont go on my word, im just throwing out an idea.
all new vehicles sold in the united states have a check engine light to signify an issue with something that affects the emissions controls system...thats why i find it so odd. do you live near an autozone...or some parts store like that? those places should have an OBD2 scanner, and will often scan for free
Thanks for all the responses everyone. I really appreciate it. I went over to Napa and they checked it out for me. They said I just locked up the brakes and the car is okay. But my air filter was totally clogged up and they said in all the craziness the sensor probably just got shifted. I put in the new filter and the light was off this morning when I drove in to work.
