Radio Volume problem!

Radio Volume problem!
Hey Guys, recently I made a new addition to my 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS.
I added a Kicker Amp and a kicker sub.
Everything was working perfect for well over 2 months till one day when i'm scrooling my music and accidently i switch it into the radio. and it was in a rap station. so you can imagine, my subwoofer almost at its peak power, than a strong low frequency sound comes on. as soon as I could feel it, I turned the radio off. Oh I forgot to mention that the radio is Factory Stock. Not RF or anything.
Anyways, I turn the radio back on and it all seems fine, but as soon I realize that the sub is not giving me the same feel as it did before. soon I realize that it is not the amp, or sub, but the sound in the car was lower than usual. At its max 49 I can maintain a conversation with a friend right next to me. (something that would never happen on a regular basis as the treble would be distorted at that volume). It is a Mono amp.Being that it only hooks up from radio to amp. not the speakers.
Anyone have a clue what's going on?
Thanks

RE: Radio Volume problem!
I've removed the connections from the amp to test the actual stereo and maybe itsjust my impression but the volume just doesn't seem the same. thespeakers aren't routed to the amp. I plan onrewiring it tommorow to see.thanks for the info.
Besides that is there anything else that could be going on?
