One of the bolts for the rear strut of the hatch has pulled out of our 97 eclipse. I know I need to get the hole welded, but would it be better to just weld it and then retap a hole or would it be better to drill a larger hole and then weld over a plate with a nut welded to it?

 

clean the good tack weld a small nut there then use a bolt with lock tight on it it should hold with no problem.
