Default Reverse Lights Don't Work

Hey peeps, well my boyfriend has a 5-speed 99 eclipse and for some reason his reverse lights doesn't come on when put to reverse. It only works once in a while, but other than that, it doesn't come on at all. The bulbs and fuse is okay, so we really don't know what the problem is. Any ideas?

Check the reverse switch plug on the tranny, check for broken wires. I cant remember exactly where the plug is on a 2G. Just pull the battery tray and UIP and look around the tranny there will be two plugs. One is the speedo sensor and the other is the revese. If there plug seems ok it could be internal switching in the tranny

if it has a relay switch you might have to replace it and have it rewired.
