Default screwed up my stereo

i have a '00 montero sport and i pulled out my anti-theft stereo to retreive a cd or two that had slipped in the crack above it. i didn't unhook any wires and thought i would be okay... nope. it asked for my code so i tried the last on my vin, and some other crap. after three errors it reads OFF and you get no reponses. i've since found my anti-theft code, but can't get it to stop reading OFF.

how the heck do i reset that sucker?

some help would be much appreciated.

Have you tried disconnecting your battery and leaving it disconnected for 15-30 seconds? That should reset the entire system and have it asking for the code again.

Normally the dealership will give you a card that will tell you. Check your owners manual.
