Default Shifting questions

At riskof sounding like a completel idiot, I was wondering about my shifting..

Everyone knows, standards are better on gas, correct? I also understand that its better on gas to be in a lower gear at higher rpms than a higher gear at lower rpms. I could be wrong, its just something I heard.

My auto shifts like ****, and I noticed a power difference shifting manually from first, to second, to drive. if I got the most out of each gear, would that be better or worse for gas? It shifts out of first at 2000 rpm at 17 mph. I got it to 40 mph in 1st only revving to 5000 rpm, redline is 6. Is thisa good or bad idea?

I kinda hate the car, so I gave it a shot.

lower rpms would yeild better gas mileage. When you shift lower in a manual you will have better gas mileage as well. Just let the auto shift on its own

If you want more power then you're gonna have to sacrifice gas mileage man. Just a fact of life. We don't "build" these cars for gas mileage. Don't beat on the auto tranny like that or you will have a pretty expensive repair to make their as well.

If your worried about gas milage you shouldnt have a sprots car at all nor try to make your car a sports car lol. if you want speed then gas milage goes out the window pretty damn quick. Also for speed get a GST lol the 420a is slow

I would love a gst, its just not in the budget. And I'm not tryin to sound like a pennypincher or anything, but bein a teen father and prices on the rise, I dont wanna be getting 6 mpg, you know? So for now if I cant have a fast car, I might as well have one thats an economic dd, right?
