In December 2011, I paid over $4800 for a re-built transmission on my 2011 Montero Sport - specifically, I paid for the following:

• 6 Spark Plugs
• Ignition WiresPlugs
• Timing BeltFan & Alt
• Timing Belt Tensioner Component Kit
• Camshaft Tensioner
• Idler Pullies Pulley
• Upper Radiator Hose P/S Belt
• Lower Radiator Hose PCV Valve
• Serpentine Belt A/C Belt
• Valve Cover Gasket
• Battery Intake Gasket Set
• Valve Cover Gasket
• Battery Intake Gasket Set
• 13.6 Labor
• Exchange Transmission LKQ - Lifetime Warranty
• 7.5 R&R Transmission LKQ
• Special Discount Curved Rad Hoses

The problem(s):

1) The "A/T Temp" light comes on when I am driving more than 60 mph for more than 30 minutes

2) The four-wheel drive light comes on - no specific speed limit or no specific drive time - the light just comes on at will.

Question(s):

1) Are these two "problems" related?
2) Did the mechanic complete the job inaccurately or incompletely?

what did the shop that did the job say when you took it back to them with these problems ??????

 

Well, I haven't taken the truck back to the transmission mechanic as yet, instead, because I don't trust the transmission mechanic, I took the truck to a local Mitsubishi service center - described the problem and here's what the guy at the garge front desk told me:

1) Regarding the A/T Temp Light: The A/T Temp light is coming on b/c the transmission fuel is heating up and that the truck will need a larger tray - will cost you close to $1,000 to replace the tray.

2) Regarding the four-wheel drive light: The Four Wheel drive light is a separate issue - unrelated to the transmission. (He never gave me a reason "why" the four-wheel drive light is coming on however).

 

the dealer sounds like a idiot take it back to the shop that did the job
