Hi, I need a new front half axle in order to replace CV boots, but am being asked whether the vehicle was built after February. The VIN decode on the Mitsubishi website only goes back to 2000. Could anyone please help with a VIN decode for my vehicle?

 

leojbourne......Hello. I just ordered complete front axles for two of my Monteros.....about $40 for a complete axle from Rock Auto ($40 for a left side, and $40 for the right side). I dont think they asked about build dates, but maybe 1997 was a strange year and they had 2 types? You might have a build date on the Montero tag.....either under the hood someplace or on door jamb.....you try that yet?
