Default Whidshield Wiper Arm

Inexplicably the D/S windshield wiper arm has just stopped functioning. The P/S works fine however the D/S just sits still and can be moved around with no resistance by hand. Has anyone had this problem? I figure it might be a stripped gear or spline but really don't know for sure.

have you figured it out yet? this happened to me once, it was wintertime here in the rockys, and i had snow build-up on my windshield- it as more slush than anything- so it was heavy. I turned on the wipers(being lazy) instead of cleaning it off first, and it was too heavy for them. after, they wouldnt work at all- i could hear the motor turning, and they looked like they wanted to move but couldnt. I took it to mitsubishi and all he did was grab a wrench, and tighten the screw in the back & front- they worked fine after that. apparently it loosend the screws in the short time they were on (like10 secends) i thought it would have stripped them but didnt. try that! That was the problem. I took the little ruber cover off, looked at the nut and lo and behold it was loose. I'm going to put some loctite on it and tighten it when I go to work today. Thanks
