whistling sound
Ok, heres the deal...
I own a 2003 Eclipse GTS(bought it in february). I was out driving last night and i turned into my driveway(right hand turn) and I heard this whistling sound coming from the left front. This was the first ive ever heard this, so naturally i was curious. I went back out on the road, taking various turns, both left and right. Everytime i turned right, i heard the noise but didnt hear it when i turned left. As i was going the sound seemed to lessen and go away. First thing i thought was tire pressure. I was due for an oil change, so i took it in today and i had the tires rotated and checked and what not to go along with the oil change. On my way home, the whistling was still there. Anyone ever experience this and maybe know why? Some people were telling me its the sound of the tires on the road, but it makes sense to me that it would make the sound when i turn both ways?

RE: whistling sound
So, the squeal happens only when you turn? Are you applying the brakes when you turn? How fast are you going when the noise happens (assuming 5 or less when going onto your driveway).

RE: whistling sound
...and this is a whistle, not a squeal sound? As in wind blowing through something making a whistling noise?
It sounds more like metal on metal squeal to me as in the brake pad indicator. That will make the noise too.
Sorry, it's tough troubleshooting noises online, lol.

RE: whistling sound
definatly not a squealing sound, the anology of air passing through something is probably as accurrate as i can think to describe it... I was kinda leaning towards the pads too, the sound lets up when i apply the breaks. I dont know much, but im pretty sure that leans it towards being a pad issue....
