Default 98 Mirage DE with a 4G63T swap ???

Hi there,
I have a mitsubishi mirage 1998 de automatic 1.5L. I would like to swap engine with a 4G63T without changing the tranny, is it possible? By the way, what modifications do I need for the engine swapping? Is it possible to change the automatic gear box to a manual one? If anyone has done this swapping can let me know and show me the links to tools, parts, success stories, I would be appreciated !!!

I know it's possible to swtich the auto trani to a manual. It's just a lot of hard work. But yes that is possible.

There is a shop called Extreme Motorsports that has done this swap with that same car i think. I'm not sure of they're website, but just do a google search and it'll be there. Check it out, but like MENTAL said, it probably will cost a lot. unless you can weld. then you'll save quite a bit of money. but it'll sill be kinda expensive.

How about the engine, the engine is the biggest problem for me rite now, I can stick with an auto transmission if the cost is too high. But will the engine fit the original tranny of my vehicle? Thanx guys !!!

whats up xblade? if you wanna stick to AT, the best thing you can do is to get an 4G63 engine used by 2 wheel drive eclipses. but it wont be a turbo engine, just a regular 4G63. so you wont get lotsa power from it. its very hard to convert AT to MT but not impossible. It can be done with a 10 days work. I think the cost would be around 3000$ without the engine and clutch. If you need help while getting the engine, i can help you. please feel free to ask any ques.
