Just keep what you have, buying and selling cars is always a hassel. If you get a stock turbo you will probably want to upgrade the turbo at some point anyways so you can just get a better than stock setup to begin with. It's always fun to do stuff to your car, it's an expensive addiction, but def fun.
You guys have to be nice to your cars, that's why you have problems with them[8D] If you're more gentle and nicer to them they will treat you better. lol.

DSM's can take a beating, from either the road or me with a wrench, they can take it. The problem most people have is that they don't do basic maintenance. They figure all they have to do is change the oil every 3k miles or so and they're good. Which is true to an extent, however turbocharged cars doo need some more care. Things like using premium gas isn't on most people's minds. They think the computer will just back down timing to compensate....well actually most *normal* people don't think that.....But if you're using that cheapo 87octane cat pee that they sell, there's only so much the car can do to protect itself. Especially when running higher boost, or something like that. Knock can be controlled to a point, anymore and you will damage the engine. I think i've went through this on another thread....?!

I love to mess around with my car. So much that my girlfriend gets upset. I have a 96 rs and 99 gst on the rs its a cool feeling whenn i put the new parts on and you can feel the hp increase. I just don't mess with the breaks(maybe bc I don't trust myself).

Haha, now that's knowing your limitations. I've gotten into so many projects and halfway through i've been like "wait....that doesn't seem very safe".

Well that's a good line to draw, if you mess up with the engine it may not run right or start, but at least you can still stop, lol.

By the time i figure out it's over my head, i'm already like 80% done. Like when i was swapping in disc brakes in the rear of my spyder, i had everything almost everything hooked up, except for the line to interior drum brake. That's when i noticed that i really didn't know if i was doing everything right(since drums to discs is kind of a big project for a home mechanic). Well, my dad helped me finish it up and test drive it to see if it worked correctly, but for a while i really didn't think i was doing everything right. But hey, i can do it now!

It's all about having someone there, brakes aren't as bad as it seems, I had to fab up some new brake lines for an old F-350, you just gotta play around with stuff like that.

it is possible, but it really depends on what you wanna spend on the car after you buy it, a turbo for a gs will probly run between 2-3 grand if you do it yourself, it really is better to wait till you find the gst or gsx your lookin for, in the long run itll probly cost you less between cost of the car and upgrades to it.......
