So here's what's apparently happening-
Mitsu says they are staying and the critics say they are going....lol
The last news I heard was they were not, leaving the US anytime soon, they just needed to make their product more marketable to the US crowd.

I say mitsubishi gives birth to another new car, however this one based off of the 3000 GT, shiet, call it the VR10, and make it a bitchin car. Make it so good, that Toyota will rethink about there new supra coming out. haha thatd be krazy as ****, a 10K GT VR10
>_<

and although Mitsubishi is rather a decent company, my number one is Toyota.

At least it sounds like they have some more appealing products coming to the US. The also are supposed to have a R/A Endeavor. However, it seems when they launch a R/A product line, it is almost just on par with other autos, it's nothing that Wow's you, it looks nice, but it needs a little more "GO" with the "show".

As someone who's been involved on the off road side of the house, I've been speaking for the past couple of years with one of the R&D guys at Cypress & have actually taken him on his first off road wheeling trip (about a year ago). He obviously really enjoyed it and also our club's passion for Mitsu 4x4's. During the trip he also brought along a video cam and taped us discussing our likes and dislikes of their vehicles.

While talking the subject came up with what they've done, what they're doing, and where they're going and it was during this discussion that I mentioned how massively stupid it is that in all the years that they've DOMINATED the Dakar rally we've never seen mention of it in any US Advertising.

He did capture this in his video and subsequently showed it to his superiors and eventually mention of it got over to the marketing folks. Lo and behold, I see a recent add from Mitsu that now mentions the Dakar rally. Score one for the underdogs!!!

Of course I can't mention that win w/out bringing up that moving forward no more Montero's will be brought to the US. Mitsu's current strategy is to sell what they have in inventory and focus on what's currently making money for them and that's apparently the other vehicles.

When I asked about the health of Mitsu Motors USA and he tells me they're not leaving N. America any time soon but they are revisiting their current marketing strategy, target market, product line up, etc. In short it's a time of change and everything is on the chopping block.

Also I should note that it was a small group in at the Cypress site (marketing was not involved) who coordinated and put together the first MOD show last year and marketing even said they didn't think it would work and wanted nothing to do with it. Shows you how aware Mitsu marketing is. I say it's time that group pull their head out of the proverbial sand (replace sand with another more descriptive word)...
