I need help. trying put an aftermarket radio in a 99 montero but all I can find is either sport models or monteros with sub/amp. I put new speakers in and found no sub or amp built in anywhere, However when I tried A plug and play adapter to single din radio I had power and no sound. I dont remeber but I beleive I saw A module below/behind the radio. I hate to rerun all new wires for a radio but Im stuck. I am new to the montero family so I been learning as I go the past year.

 

zc.......Does your 99 have the big CD changer box in the rear.......over in the corner close to the rear door hinges? If so, I "think" that maybe the amp/booster is inside this box.

 

Yes it does have the disc changer in the back. But I wouldn't think an amp is built into it.
