New to forum --need some advice -- fork in the road
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this and need some assistance to better understand my situation to make the best decision moving forward.
We recently had our Driver belt and balance belt replaced on our 2014 Triton that has done 117,000ks Deisel car has had ongoing regular services and drives like a dream .. otherwise no issues.
however when it was being repaired two mechanics disagreed on an issue.
One- believes the balance shaft with the weight shouldn't be spinning freely in the bearings and that it may come loose and if the belt goes, we need a new engine.
Other- believes it should spin freely and that its fine and car will has months years of good life in it
it has left us in the situation of should we trade in and upgrade to a new triton?
This car is owned outright, sentimental and is so good... but not i have a level of uncertainty where if it does go I cant afford an engine and we will be stuck .. I am no mechanical expert and just need someone to see if they understand this .. or have experience with this .. apparently no other cars do balance belts/shift anymore .. I have no clue.
thanks Jess aka clueless
