outlander crank sensor fault

Ok so I have a 2007 outlander 2.0 did elegance. it has done 190000 miles and keeps going into limp mode, then it works fine for a while, then back into limp mode.
when it goes into limp mode, it takes ages to start (cranking for about 20 seconds).
we have read the fault code which tells us that the crank position sensor is faulty.
I am happy to buy a new sensor, and fit it too. but please can someone tell me where it is located on the engine? two of us have looked all over the engine and we cant see it.
Any help would be fantastic
