Default TICK TICK TICK!

Hey guys,

I have a problem, well I think I do. My car, when it sits in idle makes a ticking noise as the engine goes. and whenever I rev it, but only to low RPMs, from 0 to 2500 it makes the ticking noise really quick, anythng over that it doesnt.

No, its not the oil, just changed it.

Could it be valvetrain? belts??

Thanks

that would be my guess also... if it gets worse let us know but lifter tick is somewhat a regular thing w/ dsm's.

Ok cool, so how should I go about fixing it? Would it be better to take it to repair/speed shop. the guy that works there is like God with Dsm's. Cuz i wouldn't know how to fix the lifter tick.

I mean will the sea foam just temporarily shut it up, while there is still a problem? or will it permanently fix it?

after a quick search on my local dsm site i found this. i couldnt find anything saying sea foam did or didnt work so use it if you please but They said,
-try a variety of oil's to try and minimize the noise, or
-take them out and clean them - http://www.vfaq.com/mods/lifters.html or
-buy a set of 3g lifters with bigger oil ports
I also found this on DSM Tuners, in this link replace the ***** with dsm tuners (no space) http://www.dsmtuner*.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118213
