Default Transmission Issues at 40K for PHEV

Hi everyone, we have a new mechanic at our usual Mitsubishi dealer and he pushed a transmission tune-up at ~$200 for our PHEV with 42,000 miles, saying they are typical at 30,000 miles. We've gone to the same dealership for regular maintenance and this didn't come up before. We are city dwellers who don't push our vehicle hard. And he seems to be pushing work and the associated charges on us pretty hard. Any thoughts on transmission work at 30K?
