Question 2006 Raider Manifold leak Questions

I have a 2006 Raider v-8 and a few months ago started getting a ticking noise under hood when the engine starts up. However, after it heats up the noise would basically go away. I just went for a state inspection and the Midas tech. told me that the manifold on the driver's side had a leak. So, being an emissions issue it would not pass inspection. They said they could fix it but needed my okay to investigate and most likely replace the manifold; approximately $600.00 to $1,000.00. Being that he Mitsubishi dealer was down the street, I opted to take it to the dealer and check on my warranty. The dealer rep checked out the truck and confirmed that there was a leak on the passenger side manifold. However, it wasn't covered under the federal emissions defect warrant 7 years/80,000. He said the 5/60 warranty would have covered it, but that has since expired. Another thing that is odd; I purchased the vehicle on 11/03/2006 and just noticed from my warranty print out from the dealership that my warranty began 07/26/2006? Even though it doesn't matter for the 5/50 at this time...it's odd; wondering if anyone else went through this. Any suggestions? Confused about the emissions warranty; wouldn't the manifold be part of the emissions? Should I call Mitsubishi? The truck is in mint shape. I kept it very clean love the it, but for the manifold leak?
