WRONG
YES U DO!!!!!
trust me, exhaust on these babies MAKES A SERIOUS DIFFERENCE,

however, i have a 3 inch all the way from right before the cat with no mufflers or cats
just wide open
and WOW
I LOVE IT

theres also the JIC exhausts, but do some shopping around first

You can get an HKS sport exhuast for it for about $960(cat-back) However no matter what exhaust you buy, if its is just catback your gonna gain maybe 3-5h.p. All your doing is replacing the mufflers. If you want big horsepower gains like 10-15, your gonna have to get yourself downpipes, and gut your cats. Is it worth it? I guess if you can find someone to pass you for inspection it is. Also when you get just a catback, the sound difference isnt that much more. You have a little more resonance at lower R.P.M's but its not the first thing id do on that car.

I have another question? Are there any exhaust systems I could put on a NA 3000GT and pass smog test in Cali?

if you get rid of the cat you wont pass. If you just get a catback then i think almost any exhaust will be fine
