Default AEM bypass valve

I haven't really researched how this part works, I just know what it does.. but a friend of mine said he heard about some sort of foam piece on the inside being sucked into the throttle body/intake manifold on some cars..

Is the bypass valve really worth it if that can happen? lol. Doesn't seem like a good idea.

***I do not have a CAI yet. I was planning on getting one from AEM soon.

Your thoughts please.

to me it doesnt really seem worth it because MOST of the time you have a splash guard that will protect your filter from water getting into it. and i had a CAI on a car for over a year and never had any problems with water getting into my engine. As far as the faom thing, i have no idea.

bypass valve is a waiste of money if you ask me... all it is, is just a sponge foamy thing that "absorbs water" I have never used one on any of my cars and I was instaling one onto a friends car before I said why bother look at it. honestly you wont suck up enought water to make near the motor it will evaporite first. just pull out the extension and use a short ram in bad rain

i thought water was only bad if you sumerged the filter into a puddle or something.. I didn't know that just water splashing up under there, if it ever did, would cause a problem? Thats what I inquired.

it wont cause a problerm unless your filter is drown under water... water splashing up will evaporate
