Default bummed on my Cold Air Intake

I just installed an air intake on my '94 galant and when I start my car and apply gas it dies, after a minute of idling it doesnt die, but I figured an intake would make my car better, not worse, should I install a hood scoop? (I don't have one at the present) what did I do wrong? Please gimme help...

Your air flow sensor might be out of whack with the increased volume thus making your ECU wacky also. Resetting your ECU usually solves the problem.
