Default Intermittent loss of power - 1.8 asx 3 manual 2013

I have a 2015 ASX 3 manual 1.8 - I am from the UK. Owned it about 18 months now.

Had two oil changes in that time including oil filter.

Went to France in the car recently and after about 50 miles of doing between 60 - 70 mph on a dual carriage way, it started stuttering and had to change down using 4th and 5th gear and turbo ceased to work. Tried to get help from a motoring organisation and after 4 hours of waiting, a french mechanic arrived. Started the engine listended to it and said it was the EGR valve. Needed to drive hard to clear it. So got on to dual carriageway and forced the car to go faster with foot down in 4th gear - got up to 50mph and suddenly a loud bang from under the car. The dash lit up - engine management light on and also air intake system needs cleaning. Continued on our long journey and could only do 40mph up hill even on the french motorway. Got to our destination in near darkness having been on the road since 8am in the morning. Next day started car, engine management light out. Turbo was working so ok for short trips - no garages open to help. On monday started back on reverse journey to catch ferry. Ok for first 20 miles and then same happened - loss of turbo. Drove for another 100 miles doing 60mph - stopped for a 45 minute rest after I started car - turbo working again - drove at 60 mph for rest of journey - turbo stopped working after approx 50 miles. Evntually got to ferry terminal.
Any ideas what the problem is- has anyone else experienced this? How was it fixed? Research suggests that turbo shots down if excess [pressure within the system. Still an ongoing problem

Thank you

To follow up with this - had turbo checked - working ok. BUT there is a lot of oil behind the engine - rubber pipe burst? which would explain the bang. What pipe would that be ? Is it easy to do myself? If excessive oil, what can i do to stop in?
