My Cousin just bought an out of state '97 3000gt with after market Bomz (sp?) CAI. I'm trying to help him locate a OEM intake assembly to slap on there so that we can get it smogged and registered into his name. We're in Central Coast California, any suggestions?

 

you shouldnt have a problem passin smog on just an aftermarket intake

 

Thats what we thought when we bought it. The intake, however, is for off road use only and lacks the C.A.R.B certification stickers. I called Bomz (the manufacturer) and they confirmed this and told me the original intake would be necessary in order to pass smog.

Any one have one they want to sell? Or have other ideas?

 

im still trying to figure this out because there is no way an intake is gonna really mess up your emmissions unless maybe its something to do with the filter, but even then its very hard to believe. Did they just look at it and fail you, or did they actually do the test and it failed, and if it failed how much did it fail by. Because i bet its something else.

And if you want a stock intake why not look at a junk yard.
