Outlander rear silencer very hot after hill ascent
I live in Taiwan and drive a 2008 Outlander 2.4 petrol automatic (locally assembled) with a 100,000 kms on the clock. I live up a mountain and the distance from the base to my home is four kilometres. When I drive up, on a smooth tarred road, the engine operates between 1500-2500 revs. Here is my issue. Everytime when I drive up and park the vehicle, the rear silencer box smells very hot; almost if there is something burning. I know it is not the disc brake as I have had this checked. When driving in city traffic, downhill and on the freeways, the box never smells hot.
Does anyone know what is the cause and the remedy?
My appreciation in advance of any and all replies.
