there has got to be some kind of way to totaly bypass the maf. it is so big and it doesnt allow air to flow as freely as a open pipe like what i have on there. the maf restricts airflow in my opinion.

Yeah well without it you won't pass emissions depending on your year, and your car will run ****ty and have terrible gas mileage.

I still don't have a clue where this MAF/MAS/MAFS thing is at on my car.. I guess that's why I ordered a Chilton manual (couldn't find it in a store around here.. it sucked).

When I put my CAI there was nothing electronical on the stock intake that I could see. I guess I'm blind or my car is missing parts.

it is the big bulky sensor that is in your air filter assembly. too me it only allows so much air through it, so its gotta bog down power. hhmmmm. still undecided to either keep it off or make it work some how.

put it this way, your MAF reads the amount of inflow air and then compensates with so much fuel. You takr that away and your car will not know the correct amount of fuel to put. Oh and that is a short ram intake NOT a CAI. Cant you put it between the end of your pipe and the air filter?

I still never saw any kind of sensor when I was chaning mine out.. My car SEEMS to run fine.. do all cars have a MAF? Maybe it was on the throttle body (they come there too don't they?) and I didn't notice it...

all mitsubishis have that big *** box for a MAF (they call it a MAF) but its a Mass Airflow Sensor...and it adjusts the fuel - air ratio....all cars have em mitsus have the big boxes.. you need them for your car to run.....

Apparently not.. when you put a CAI (as I did), you remove that "big box" from the car... no big box, and my car runs fine... soooooo.. either 1) thats not the MAF or 2) you dont need it for your car to run.

Which, I do not know
