wraps?

do these wraps you can put on your exhaust manifolds and around the turbos actually help with anything?

The help keep heat from radiating around the engine bay. In other words, the help keep the heat inside the piping, manifold, turbo, etc.
So, yes, they do help.

Their to keep the heat that radiates from the exhaust, only on the exhaust. if they are installed incorrectly, they shouldnt be much of a problem or hazard. But it's pretty simple to do correctly.

If you live somewhere hot, such as miami, i dont suggest you heat wrap your exhaust manifold. Down here it's way to damp, and the moisture is retained with the heat wrap. The moisture leads to rusting of the manifold, which in turns results in cracking. Heat wrap is usually used up north.

They do help... for those reasons listed above ^^^^

Better yet, get a heat shield.
