97 projectors on 95 eclipse

97 projectors on 95 eclipse
we have installed 97 bumper on 95 eclipse and, because of the headlights not fitting, ordered and installed 97 projectors on that car either.
here's the problem:
1. OEM headlights wiring is single 3 prong plug, black, red and red/blue wires
2. projectors came with 2 two prong plugs, one black and red, one black and blue
3. i spliced black wires together, red to red, and red/blue to blue. it all worked picture perfect right after, but then son drove to the gym, came back, and the highbeam dash light is now on all the time, but highbeams only glow, don't really shine.
4. i, also, found that inside the old headlights, 3 prong harness splits into 2 two prong harnesses and i have no doubt, those plugs will match the projectors plugs direct. as of now, i have no way to get that harness out unless i will cut a large hole in the plastic to get the plugs through.
any suggestions? we wanted to sell the old headlights, but if that's the only way to make it all work...
