Lighter as power source
Ok, I don't smoke so don't need the lighter. If I take it out wow wow wubzie, big ugly hole in the console. So I get this great idea. The previous owner monkey rigged his fog lights straight from the battery to a switch hanging out of the glove box- tackeeeee.Hmm I thought, what if I ran the lighter power to the switch and presto...fog lights, a nice lit pushbutton, isolated(?) and fused power supply, and absolute happiness!!
The question(Iknew therewas a point here somewhere) is will this hurt anything long term? I don't know what these aftermarket fogs draw and how that compares to what the cig lighter drew but I know the lights are on all of the time, where the lighter was meant for short uses. To me, power is power, but then I usually weld my screwdrivers to the sockets when I replace lights in the house too [sm=crossbonesgif.gif][sm=crossbonesgif.gif] Any thoughts out there?
