Exclamation Main Bearings for my motor

K this is kinda hard to explain so I will do my best.

I recently baught a 95 eclipse RS with DOHC 2.0L 420A motor. I had to buy an oil pressure sensor but the one for the 95 looked totally different then the one on my car. It ended up being for a 97 that fit.

Me and my buddy decided to port and polish and while I was at it, rebuild. Here is the thing. I ordered the Main bearings for a 95 RS and the barings without the holes to shoot oil to the crank shaft would not fit. The key is on wrong side. The bearings with the holes fit fine. So I went to order bearings for a 97 seeing how the oil sensor worked like that, but the guy at advance said the eclipse from 95 to 99 are all the same with the 420A. So we started thinking the owner before me had an engine swap. We even ran the vin number off the block and it said it's a block for a 95 to 99.

So why are these bottom bearings not fitting and have the key on the wrong side? My buddy said I could just use the same bearings that have the holes for top and bottom of block, it will just send more oil to the crank shaft. We are so lost here. Hope I explained this enough to understand.

Anyone know why the right yr model bearings are not fitting the right year model for the car?

probably because advanced and your local part stores use generic parts and may always fit like it should. order parts from a good online website that will sell them or satan (dealer). i would check jnztuning.com first, they sell performance parts plus oem stuff.

Probably it is not 95RS parts just 95. A little difference can give a headache just buy the 95-99 without the RS. GET ME?

Easiest way to figure out the year of your motor..Take the VIN# off the block and go check with your local CHP-If that doesnt work. Ask mitsubishi about it.

this is a nightmare. i am currently doing the same thing with my turbo accord that has some frankenstein motor from a new accord so i have to figure out vin and ecu and harness.

but definitely get the numbers off the block and ask the stealership about it. i think the bearing with the oil ports wont hurt it. it will just put more oil on the crank via thise passages. but it will always be best to put the original type parts in it.
