I have a "new to me" 1991 automatic 3000GT. I was told when I got the car that it would not "get out of third gear". that the car had been checked with diagnostics, and the person was told it needed a new transmission computer.

There were other problems, fuel pump just replaced. Needed "old gas" run out of it, etc. The car is running now, It has a skip, but I was told that the coil packs were good, that the person thought it simply needed a new plug.

the thing that concerns me is that he said it wont go into "low gear". He stated that he had the car running at 80 and it drove excellent.

What do you think the transmission problem could be?

our cars go into "safe mode" when there is an issue with the transmission this enables you to get to a safe location here is a link that will show you where to take a 5 dollar battery tester and get the trans code that is putting your car in safe mode.

i have a digital meter i use but i have put 160k on my 91 sl and 2 engine and going on 3 atx (automatic trannismission). But i race mine in the mtn of southern WV on crazy roads.
