Default Gear is not engaged at the low gear after the car stops.

Hello,

My car is pretty fine so far. I think after the temperature below 36(F), the gear didn't engaged at all at D 1,2,3 or R. If I place my foot on the accelerator pad with a certain pressure, the rpm goes up and down and also car go and stop in 2 or 3 times. Then car is going smoothly. After the car start, it look pretty fine for shifting gear. But once the car stop, this process happen again.

2 days ago. the temperature is pretty high like 40F. I didn't have any problem.

It seems the level of the ATF is ok and the transmission guy told me that the color of ATF is also fine. He suggest that rebuilding the Transmission or change the speed sensor.

My is around 90 000 miles.

Does anyone has any idea to fix it?

This happens only when it is cold. I guess there is something related to the viscosity of ATF. Changing the ATF might help, right?

I think so, that's the first thing to look the fluid on it. Well, if your changing the fluid, flush the old fluid including in the torque converter. Clear it out, at least you don't have a partial remedy to isolate the problem. Good luck, I hope it works.
