1992 3000GT VR-4 BOV question.
Ok so i just joined because well i just bought this car. However i do wish to ask this, the car runs perfect and so forth however i wish to install a BOV. For one i do not know how to install one but my friends do and they can show me or do it w/e but anyways i wanted to know which BOV would be best for the money and can i just throw a BOV on this car without do anything else?..Hence meaning do i have to give it a performance chip or whatever to install one..

The type of BOV first depends on what sound you want. I have an Apex'i BOV on my 93 VR-4 and it has a really loud swoosh sound. The HKS and Blitz BOV's have more of a chirp sound to them. If you want the swoosh sound, I'd suggest a TurboXS Type H RFL (stands for Really F*ckin Loud!). They're around $200 when you buy it and the plug to replace your old BOV. The HKS and Blitz BOV's are in the neighborhood of $200 as well, but simply sound different.
If I were you, I would never get a chip for a turbo'd car. I had a friend who bought one for his '04 Sti and told me it just wasn't worth it. You do not need to modify anything to put a BOV on your car. You do want to be careful though, as most aftermarket BOV's are open air, which means they let the boost out into the engine bay, as opposed to recirculating it through your intake. This can cause problems, but mine worked just fine.
One final point, make sure you adjust your BOV after you install it, don't just throw it on there and call it a day. Spring tension plays a huge role in how much boost you hold, and when it releases or recirc's it.
Hope this helped, post a clip if you can, I'd like to hear it.
