3000gt won't start! please help
irecently threw a rod on my 3000gt,i went to a junkyard and bought a block and one head(even though my car is Dohc)i only bought one.after i had put the engine together and tried to crank it a few times i realized i had forgot to push the toqhe converter all the way back.so i took everything back out and now the motor is back in. the car will not start it gets fire, gas and turn over by hand very easy and than starts to get very tight, but it does turn over. when trying to crank it i hear a loud noise coming from either the starter or the toqhe converter until the starter grinds away. i miss driving my car so much, can somone help me?

When you crank it can you check if the timing belt spins?
It kinda sounds like the starter might be install wrong, where its catching w/ the flywheel at a wrong angle and therefore it grinds. Can you get a video on what its doing?

heybuddy, i looked at the timing beltwhile my girl tried to crank it.the cam spockets turns to about a quater of a complete turn( stops! than the starter disengages) i turn the key and the marks on cam spockets stay in that same (frozen}postion and the belt stops moving for about three crank attemps than it turns the rest of the way. to me it seems like (while looking at the marks on the cam spockets)the enginehassitates or pausesin the same place every time. i know a little about cars but i think this one's getting the best of me. please respond and tell me anything you think i may have missed. thanks again.

it does makea 360 turn, but pauses about a quater of the turn.then thestarter disengages.if turned by hand it does the same, and does get very very tough to turn at this point, but i always thought that the engines were suposed to be hard to turn by hand so i thought it was a problem because the first part turned so easily? i guess i was looking in the at the wrong thing.(but keep in mind Dohc the heads are from two different cars) what do you think?thanks again,i appreciate it

the head in the front of the engine is used, the one in the back is the original,if there is a bent valve it would in the back in the no.2 cylinder on the original head .i was thinking maybe if the starter problem or the pauses did't occur theyshould have worked togeter.hopefully it's something esle? but i don't know?
