3rd Gen Lifter Upgrade

my 93 gt has the same lifter problems as all 1st gen. gts. my question is is it worth it to swap out 1st gen lifters with 3rd gen lifters for a bigger oil passage to eliminate the damn ticking? and how hard of an upgrade would this be to do?
