Default AWD conversion? :/

hey im 17 looking into buying a 3kgt
and im not stupid about cars i know a hell of a lot more than the average 17 year old lol

but somethings been on my mind
if you took the rear differential, driveshaft, and transmission from say a 95 vr-4, could you slap it onto a 95 sl? considering its basically the same car, theoretically it SHOULD work, anyone know anything about it?

thanks

You can't just "slap" it in. There's quite a bit of cutting and welding you need to do. But you could make it AWD. You would need the AWD transmission, transfercase, rear diff, driveshaft, rear subframe, etc. Then, you'd need to turbo it... because an AWD non turbo is horribly slow.

It's cheaper, and easier, to just get a 91-93 VR-4 from the start.

You can pick up a 91-93 vr-4/tt for real cheap, honestly. And it ends up being cheaper and less of a headache to just buy a vr4 from the get-go.

If it's your first 3/S though, sometimes an n/a is a great place to start. Maintenance is a MUST, and repairs are EXPENSIVE. Good luck
