Lot's of people use nitrous on their 3KGT's, but there aren't many that do a single turbo conversion. It's easier and more effective to just upgrade to 2 decent sized turbos than to convert to a single large turbo. The problem is that since the engine is a V-configuration, making an exhaust manifod to fit around everything is hard to do. It's been done before, but by custom shops with lots of money
. But yeah, the 6g72 non turbo usually holds up pretty well to a good dose of nitrous.

Project SL-T
Big *** single Turbo on a stock DOHC block with 125K + miles. Made several passes this summer before some problems with an MBC cooked the motor.

Hey stealth, IPO made this car? I had no idea, do you know if there's a website? After visiting the 3si.org wa back and seeing that they didn't recommend turboing the NA 6g72's, i didn't even think anyone would bother trying to do a single turbo on non-turbo.

IPO as in Import Power Online, yes, he built the car. Some parts where off the rack so to speak, but he put it all together. Fabricated the piping, gutted it, etc, etc.

There are a few NA motors(10:1cr) that people have TwinTurboed with stock parts (9b's, sidemounts, ECU) and have had great luck. One guy on 3si Mike95RT has put about 25k on his conversion and has said the only problem he has ever had with it was getting traction
The higher compression is helpful because when off boost it still has enough low end grunt to get around without waiting for the turbos to spool.
*note: This it hearsay, no personal experience.

Yeah, that's pretty much the same method the 4g64 guys use. They keep the CR the same and use oem 4g63 parts to turbocharge. Although the 4g64 is only a 9.0:1, i didn't know the 6g72's NA's came with a 10.0:1 CR!?!? That seems a little high, but i guess it makes sense....the engines do push 220hp. Oh well, learn something new everyday.
