Default Fuel Pump wearing out?

Whenever I start the car the oil pressure is very low. Close to the L (in a 96 3kGT SL) I wanted to know if mitsu/3kGT fuel pumps are known to fail (114,500 miles) and if the oilpan and then fuel pump are removable without taking out the whole engine? Thank you in advance for any advice or knowledge on this.

Edit: The oil pressure is abnormally low when I am just idling, even after its been driven for awhile. My friend says its the fuel pump dieing and its straving some of the cylinders of oil making the lifters tick. But can anyone tell me if this happens alot and if the oilpan and then fuel pump are removable without taking the whole engine out of the car?

Um...when you start the car? Let it warm up and then take it out driving...Should rise and fall depending on how hard you are driving her. When at idle, my guage shows it at about a notch below the L. When I am driving, it is well in the area it needs to be. Never had a problem with it.

Do not trust the stok Oil preasure guage. If your conserned get an after market guage connected. I have seen people with the stick guage on the bottom and getting 25psi at idle(which is in spec).

If you need to change the Oil Pump you have to remove the oil pan. To do that you'll have to remove several supports on teh bottom.
