Default Help With Timing Belt Price and Repair

Ok So I need to get a new Timing Belt for my 96 3000GT VR-4.
the question is how much should I be looking to spend?
About how much is the timing belt for this car, and do I need to get other parts
done while the timing belt is done?
I don't know how much it would cost, but the only place I called to get a quote told me that it's about $600 for the timing belt work, wich is parts and labor, he said it was the timing belt and other components that had to be change as well.
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

When I replace my T-belt, I always change the water pump, tensioner, and idlers. 600 is a pretty good price...do you trust the shop?

He did said T-belt Tensioner and some other stuff, but No water pump.
Yes I trust the shop they did the Clutch and Flywheel on my SL and they did a good job plus they only do Mitsubishis.

The water pump is ran by the T-belt.

When I had a 60k service done for the first time (back in 2000), they did not replace the water pump. About 5000 miles later, the water pump started leaking out of the weep hole. To replace the water pump, I had to remove the T-belt. That is when I learned to just replace all of it at the same time...more for peace of mind than anything...and to avoid basically paying for the same job twice.

Thats a good price, and what everyone is saying about water pump and idlers/pulleys is correct, and might I suggest a NEW water pump....Since its so much trouble to get into this area,Id not take a chance on a remanufactured one.
You didnt state in youre intital post if the belt has broken,or its just time to change it.Hopefully its just time to change it,or 600 bucks wont even be a good downpayment on the repair.[X(]
