I have a 1991 3000gt vr4. It has about 140,000 miles on it. I want to switch to synthetic oil. I dont know if it has ever had synthetic oil it does not right now. Would it be ok to switch with so many miles on the engine? If so what brand is best and what weight oil should I use?

Yes you can switch to synthetic, I would say check all gaskets and keep an eye, as synthetic is thinner and can leak from places conventional oil doesnt. As faqr as prope weight and brand, Id say talk to a local mitsubishi dealer or if you trust your local auto parts stoes, talk to one of the workers there. I know my friends at Consumer Auto Parts have yet to steer me wrong. Im considering switching to synthetic in the spring.

I'd recommend a synthetic blend. Switching to a straight synthetic could cause your seals to shrink, and you'll end up with more headaches than it's worth. There's no benefit to switching to a synthetic after so many miles.
