i took my cat out today and put in a straight pipe but my check engine light went on a little while after driving is that cuz the ecu thinks the cat is ****ed upp ???

That would be my answer. I got a high flow cat to be safe, I didn't want to have any hassle from the cops or my ECU even though there are supposed to be fixes for this particular CEL.

tis fairly common in some of them. Usually moreso in the 2gens because there are more o2 sensors than the 1gens. Dotn worry, the car is fine (hopefully) and you are gonna be OK. How was the power gain? I noticed a LOT of difference in my car eliminating all 3 of those cats at once. Biggest NA power mod I would say.

deff sounds reall good i like the aound alot better and i only pulled the one cat the power difference is even noticable
