Question about 91 VR-4 tranny

Default Question about 91 VR-4 tranny
my VR-4 has a small crack in the tranny housing my co worker said if its small enough I could tig weld it shut by tapping it with the welder or I could rebuild the tranny. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
