Default Sunroof problem

Howdy,

I got a 95 SL (95k miles, love that car!).
Two weeks ago, my girl tried to open the roof, and it just got stuck. midway - not even on the rails. seems that it is off the rail on one of the sides, and when i try to open or close i can hear (and see, as i open the upper engine compartment) the roof engine works, but nothing happens.

So i went to Mitsubishi garage.
Estimation : 400$ labor only. before the parts. the guy said that he doesn't know exactly which parts are needed, but he can estimate it 1500$-2000$. I asked him how much will it cost me to just to close it permanenetly - he was not willing to do it, as he said he can not do it, and if he opens it - he will have to fix it, in order to close it.

No way I am paying that.

So the question/s - has one here have any expereince with fixing the sunrood ? how complicated is it (it looks pretty simple mechanical to me), and do you know where i can find the Schema/Drawing/Instruction to repair it ?

p.s -
How can i get replacement to the dash tweeters?

my suggestion would be to take off the roof on the inside and see what exactly is happening to it. That way you can go from there. It might be as easy as something just being off track

Thar price is insane. That happened to my 97 SL, and a common problem with the sunroof is that it's not oiled well enough, and it skids along the track and slices out little pieces of metal which ruins the track. I had the sunroof completely replaced for $800. I'd say look elsewhere. If it's the metal, there's really nothing you can do, the damage has already been done.
